So far, I’m failing miserably. There is an upshot, though. Now that I’m caught up on my lesson-plan writing and I’ve shipped off the holiday cards to their exclusive retail home, I can get back to writing fiction again. As an added bonus, I have a ton of filing to do in my classroom and for some reason that always helps my mind wander off to a place where characters tell me things they shouldn’t.

Now I remember how I ended up trying to bake six batches of cookies, pack a suitcase, sew furoshikis, and avoid a nervous breakdown around Dec. 20th last year. I did NaNoWriMo so I didn’t get any of the sewing or shopping or wrapping or card making or baking done in November. And this year there’s 20 lbs of clay staring at me asking to become bowls, too.

I need a clone.
